This unique virtual instrument introduces a new "Audio Model" format, which can store thousands of waves taken from standard audio files. These waves, along with their intricate structure, serve as the foundation for how Tomofon generates audio, resulting in a highly versatile and immediately expressive instrument. It effortlessly transitions between organic, lifelike sounds and more otherworldly tones. Whether you choose to explore the Audio Model Starter Pack (comprising instruments and voices) and factory presets, or import your own audio to sculpt unique soundscapes, an artistic journey awaits.

How does it work?

Tomofon converts audio files into a comprehensive set of oscillating waves, which are then assigned to pitch zones where each wave represents a layer (similar to how a sampler organizes velocity zones). The key distinction is that due to waves populating each zone instead of regular samples, the synth engine can smoothly morph between them both in terms of layers and zones. This results in seamless transitions between zones and layers.

Create and share your own unique sounds

An essential feature of this plugin is the ability for users to import their own audio files and craft new Audio Models unique to them. Regular audio files (ideally with monophonic content) can be seamlessly imported and distributed across various pitch zones on the keyboard range, either automatically or manually. Automated importing is a straightforward one-click process that immediately creates a playable Audio Model. Manual importing provides complete control over which waves belong in each pitch zone. Furthermore, users can effortlessly share their self-created Audio Models with others.

Tomofon comes pre-installed with a collection of 124 Audio Models inspired by high-quality audio recordings displaying multiple expressions. These models encompass various instruments such as strings, vocals, brass, woodwind, guitars, among others. Moreover, there are over 180 presets provided to kick-start your musical exploration. Subsequently, you have the freedom to delve deeper by designing Audio Models based on your audio files and exploring the sonic possibilities at your disposal.
